What a great weekend at the 43nd Annual Canon Car Club Car Show! If you were able to attend, thank you very much for participating and if you could not make it this year, we hope to see you in 2026.
Please be sure and read some important news, at the end of this e-mail, regarding our 44th Annual Show next year.
By all accounts, the Friday Night Picnic was another success. We served over 300 hot dogs to our guests and club members. Thanks to the generosity of the Canon Car Club wives, there was a great mix of bean and/or beef chili, hot or mild and red or green; something for everyone. Then there were the sides, more (but different) beans, macaroni and potato salads, leafy green salads and fruit. And if you weren’t counting calories too closely, there were plenty of deserts – a chocoholics dream, cobblers, cakes and cookies. The Canon Car Club crew did a fantastic job and by the looks of the crowd, their efforts were greatly appreciated.
Dawn came early on Saturday and members of the Car Show team were on the job as early as 4:30am. There were tents to set up food trucks to organize, the Nick Donovan music festival, port-a-potties, trash cans and unload all the leftover food and drinks from the night before for the team and our guests.
The first show cars started arriving about 6:30 and it seemed non-stop until about 11am as the Abbey acres filled with some astounding cars and trucks. All told, we had 268 cars, trucks and custom rides registered for the event. We had 37 different makes represented from AMC to Willys; Chevy and Ford dominated with 96 from each represented. Not too surprisingly, Camaros, Corvettes and Mustangs were popular individual models but 1930-40 vintage Ford’s and 55-57 Chevy’s were also very well represented!
The Canon Car Show Rodder’s Choice – our best of show – was entry #36, a highly customized Orange Glow Candy 1941 Willys Pro Street coupe from Sedalia CO.
Our posters and artwork for next years show will feature this car prominently.
The table below shows our Rodder’s Choice, Top 5, Ladies Choice and this year’s charity – Fremont County Hospice - selections:
The real highlight of the day, and the day was pretty spectacular, was the auction held in support of our charity for 2025, The Fremont County Hospice. Sixteen items, ranging from an original NOS pedal car, tools, car washes, flower baskets to ZipLine and SkyDiving adventures!
The club and our guests raised $4000 dollars and we should all be proud of that effort! Club president, Keven Zerby, and a contingent of club members delivered a check to the Hospice.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all the club members who helped organize the show and an even BIGGER THANK YOU to all of those who brought out their cherished automobiles to share with us all. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
We have a great friend of the club who has put together some very cool videos – check this one out for the 2025 Show:
Now, we have some news regarding our 44th Annual Picnic and Car Show to be held Friday and Saturday, 12 and 13 June, 2026. We are very lucky to have secured access to the Abbey Grounds for two more years, albeit at an increased cost. In order to preserve our ability to make a significant donation to next years charity (Loaves and Fishes in Canon City), we will need to pass along some of the cost in the form of increased entry fees (exact amount yet to be determined). To help minimize the increased cost to Car Show participants, we will be inviting vendors to display, sell their wares and charging them a fee for the opportunity.
It there is sufficient interest, we explore the possibility of the Abbey hosting a Wine Tasting. If interested, please e-mail us at info@canoncarclub.com. We will provide additional details as they become available on our website, www.canoncarclub.com, and in an e-mail reminder in January 2026 when registration opens for next years show.
